With the new mod installer and patcher update, when I try to open the new installer it says "It looks like you have game data from an old update, the installer cannot work with these files. I will send you the clear installation tool."
What is the issue and is there any way I can fix it without completely wiping out my mods and starting over?

Turns out my game itself wasn't up to date and that was the problem... so yes I could. If anyone else has this issue in the future see if that's the case. And don't expect anyone here to actually help apparently. |

You never said you were using an out of date version of the game, so that your own fault. We don't support pirated copies here anyway so we won't be helping you any further.

You never said you were using an out of date version of the game, so that your own fault. We don't support pirated copies here anyway so we won't be helping you any further. First of all: I didn't know it was out of date, that was the problem. I wouldn't be here if I knew that. Second: It's not pirated, what a rude and baseless claim. It was just overdue for an update because my download queue was long and tends to pause when steam isn't running or if a game is running. If it were pirated how do you think I figured out that the version was the problem? Because I updated the game. Not to mention I wouldn't have even downloaded the latest version of the mod patcher and installer if I had a pirated copy because what would be the point? Think before making accusations like that. Third: "Any further" implies that you made it past the starting line bud. You didn't even try to help, you were just rude and short with me. I came back because I was just about to edit that post and apologize since I felt it was a bit harsh of me but I can see there is no need. Either way it doesn't matter now, the problem is resolved so we're done here. Again if anyone else is here because they had this issue make sure your game is up to date. |

I've heard that excuse before. The only way games stop updating is if you specifically choose to do that, which wouldn't make sense considering the new update, and the patcher has been out for a while. You wouldn't even need to update the patcher and mod installer if you were fine with an older version. As for "what would be the point" for updating a pirated copy? The same reasons we update for the latest version. Obviously.
Besides, the only one who's actually being "short and rude" here is you. You asked a question without full detail, I answered it based on what I had. But yeah sure, I'm the rude one lmfao.
