Because the new DLC is coming soon, in order to help people from being unable to mod their games until Eternity updates his patcher, I'm going to make a simple and quick tutorial on how to stop Steam from automatically updating XenoVerse 2 so you can keep your mods.
Step 1: Right click your DRAGONBALL XENOVERSE 2 listing in Steam and click Properties.
Step 2: Navigate to the UPDATES tab, and select the dropdown box under Automatic Updates. Select "Only update this game when I launch it".
Step 3: Whenever you want to launch and play XenoVerse 2, start the game from the bin folder, not from Steam. If you start it from Steam you will begin the update.

Adding to this: You can add DBXV2.exe to Steam as a non-steam game so you don't have to open the bin folder/find a desktop shortcut every time you're in the mood to Xeno some Verses.

my game still says 10/23/18 of the last update but i still get that the patcher only supports 1.10v4

v1.10.02.
From what you mentioned about your XV2's date modified text, you have a version older than 1.10v4, which leads me to believe you don't actually own the game on Steam.

So I've done all this, the update hasn't been downloaded to my knowledge and according to steam but when I run the game it says it can't find my save data and wants to create a save. As a result I can't run the game (at least using my existing characters and saves). This happens every time a patch is out. Is there a way to fix this or am I just stuck waiting for the patcher update?

Yeah you actually buy the game on Steam. Save files have nothing to do with the XV2Patcher, and the game updates do not invalidate or remove save data.

I have bought the game on steam  Don't be a dick dude. I get this problem EVERY time an update is released and every time the problem is resolved by downloading the update, so that means I'm stuck waiting for the patcher to be updated as well. |

That literally makes no sense. The saves do not get affected by the updates, not only that but your saves wouldn't suddenly just "stop working" just because a new update is out and you haven't updated. Plenty of people make the game not update until the patcher is out, and none of them have your save problem, myself included.
The only way your save would be broken is if you had used it on an updated version, then rolled back.
Besides, I wasn't being a dick. You described a problem that specifically happens with pirated copies of games.

So this is weird. So I decided to see what would happen if I let the game create new save data (after backing up my original) as expected it created a new save with blank character slots. Then I alt+F4 out of the game replace the new save with the back up and now everything is working.
I am honestly confused out of my mind. Like my brain has jumped out of mind and run away while saying "good luck figuring that out asshole". ah well at least it works now.

Had that problem too, today. Never had it before... Looked and Steam randomly decided to turn on Steam Cloud saving for XV2. Maybe that's the culprit? |

I'd like to just make a small announcement that there's going to be a new Xenoverse 2 update coming soon. I suggest following this tutorial to prevent it from updating until Eternity updates his installer/patcher.

Bumping this due to the new DLC arriving on the 11th of this month.
Back up your Xenoverse 2 or stop it from updating. Don't let it be too late.
