Required programs and files:
1-CriPakTools
2-CPK or Repacker (sssspatcher)
3-SF4explorerV 0.37 b or other
4-sscharactertool2
5-resource.cpk
6-HEX Editor
7-Photoshop or any image editor
Files 1 to 4 items we can find them here on the Forum, I have 5 in the game and the 6 and 7 must have to perform modifications to images.
Not all the characters to change 100% some are still with traces of the original colors, I think it's because just like the aura and the cosmos that eternity must be discovered in other files. Read the entire tutorial before if you have questions or discover new things post here to facilitate the understanding of all.
1-Unpack the file resource.cpk, then go to the system folder, locate the cmn_model_spec.cms file and copy the file to the folder of the program sscharactertool2. Now drag the cmn_model_spec.cms file onto the sscharactertool2.exe, ira appears a new cmn_model_spec.xml file. Let's move on to the next step.
2-return to the resource.cpk file and locate the vfx/CHARA, copy the files ending in EfectTex.emb and Efect.emb corresponding to the character that you want to modify (to know which file and which character open the .XML file and see to which it points vfx) and copy to the folder of 0.37 SF4explorerV b (I chose the SRU to do). I used the SF4explorerV 0.37 b to open both files, click EXTRACT and extract image you want. (Certain characters as Dohko, Shiryu and Ikki has dds files in Efct.emb most only have in EfectTex.emb.)
3-Edit the color of the image in photoshop and save it in. DDS.
OBS1: don't touch the image format, extract and edit all the images do not replace an image by another because it has images that are identical to punch in DDS different formats.
Note2: remember that the new image has to have the same size. If you hang out with other size try other dds formats.
The only two formats that I found the images they only vary with the options:
Generate MIP maps
In the MIP maps
Use existing mip maps
4-return to SF4explorerV 0.37 b and select which image you want to replace with the new picture, and then click INJECT.
Note: Remember that both extracted and modified images must have the same size but not the program had injected back.
5-now open the same folder where the VfxSRUEfct.emb and VfxSRUTexEfct.emb. Before transferring back new files generated by the rename the same by as you want while maintaining the original form of the file __ _TexEfct.emb and Vfx Vfx ___ _TexEfct.emb as in the image. Now we can download it.
6-now back to sscharactertool2 to modify cmn_model_spec.xml. Open .XML with the HEX editor and search where is located the character which you will modify in my case is DSR_02, look for the Vfx Value and rename to the same filename Efct VfxSRU1Efct.emb.
Close the file and save. Now do the reverse drag the .XML file on sscharactertool2 and ira generate a new file cmn_model_spec.cms.
7-Copy cmn_model_spec.cms to the game with the repacker.cpk or the sssspatcher creating the paths correctly.
