Any time I go into the Photo Mode (original one, not Conton City) or PQ, the "Select Character" screen won't load the characters. The music works, the background animation works, and the music setting menu works... just not the characters.
The only things I've installed recently (as in since the game last worked) are New Transformations 3.2 and the XV2 Patcher 3.3. Uninstalling the former doesn't help at all.

Clear your mod installation in XV2 Mod Installer, completely remove XV2Patcher, go to C:\users\<username>\appdata\roaming and delete the xv2ins folder.
Now redownload XV2Patcher and install it, then try again. Your problems are no doubt due to problematic setups as the character select works fine for many other people, myself included.

I found a solution in another forum thread where someone had the same problem; delete the "data" folder in the game directory, then validate the game files in Steam. Then it started working again.
Had to reinstall all my mods, though. Well, except for a couple of them; every time I have to restart like that or reinstall, there's always a couple of random mods that worked before the reinstall but crash the installer if I try to add them back in afterwards, while others that didn't work before the reinstall suddenly install fine now. Despite being the exact same file both times and the installer being up-to-date.
Is there a way to extract the files from an X2M file so they can be copied into the game manually?
