Not exactly an answer to my question, but still good advice. Thankfully, that particular mess up can be fixed with a save editor pretty easy; won't bring back your save, but you can make a pretty good copy of it if you want.

Anyway, to anyone else who might come by here with the same problem (I know you're out there, I've found a few of this same question go unanswered) I've found a solution.

All you have to do, is go find a Super Soul mod that's running your game version. Just take the talisman files from that, and edit them instead--if you do have your old files and just want to update to the new game version, you can extract the specific Soul's zzs file, then transfer it into the new talisman file easy peasy! Just remember that those files have already been altered; if you're going to release it, be sure to remove the original mod author's Super Souls to avoid stealing their work, and make double sure that they didn't edit any of the regular Souls. You just want the files as a resource, so look for one that can be easily set back to it's vanilla state.

Hopefully, if any of that is wrong, a more experienced modder will come in an point out the flaws; if not, then at the very least it should give enough that a few searches could fill in the blanks. ^_^
