There's been numerous threads about the currently missing XV2Patcher thread, and what will be happening in regards to said XV2Patcher. I'll start off with what actually happened to the thread. I went to lock the thread the other day after numerous posts asking for updates, and misclicked entirely, deleting the thread. It was a late night, so I hadn't actually realised until the next morning, to which I immediately messaged Val and Eternity about it when realising what had happened. Yes, as some of you had already guessed, the thread was deleted, due to an admittedly rather stupid mistake on my part, and I apologise for any confusion and worry that has ensued from it. That being said, despite the thread deletion, it is not unlikely that Eternity will update the patcher. He will create another thread when it is done. However the time frame is unknown. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen next week. It could also happen next month, only Eternity knows. I also suggest refraining from bugging any other moderators, admin or Eternity about the state of the Patcher. Again, I sincerely apologise about the error, the confusion and/or worry that resulted from it. |

Woah now, calm down. We all make mistakes from time to time, there's no need to get this heated over it. Just be patient and wait for Eternity to make a new thread, then you can get back to modding your game.

It's not even that huge of a mistake (Not having access to the patcher, not the, y'know, deleting the thread part) when you really think about it. The patcher wasn't up to date, nobody would have been able to use it on the latest version regardless. Stop overreacting kid. |

Well. That answers my question of: "Did something happen?" Frankly, I'm not pressed for the patcher. Got plenty of other things to keep me busy. I'll see when I see it.

So I saw a post that made me think about this. Eternity can't be the only person to do this kind of thing. I mean, what happens if something happens to Eternity or they just don't want to do it anymore? We need to get more people out there to learn how to do this. I don't want to think that modding DBXV2 or any other game they mod will die with them(not that they will be dying anytime soon).

Like I said in the previous thread that talked about this kind of thing.
Val has stated before that we have people on backup if Eternity ever wishes to stop. I don't want to speak for him but I like to think he'd release all the research and information that went into making the patcher and all of his tools if he were to quit.

"We have people on backup" might be phrased a bit authoritarian.
It'd be more accurate to say that given eternity's source code and documentation there are several people in this community who could pick up his work should he decide to back away from it for good.
Think of Olganix, Lazybone or Yuuki. I also have heard amazing things about demonboy, although I can't say I am too knowledgable about his skillset.
As long there is interest in modding the game there will be mods.
The patcher and the mod installer are very well working and incredibly advanced tools, creating an alternative to them at this point would be a waste of anyone's time.
